Thank you to the students of 5th and 6th class in Our Lady of Lourdes National School, Goldenbridge and Inchicore National School who made this lovely video, as part our our Green Camp in 2022.
In November and December 2022 12 students from 5th and 6th class in both schools took part in Green Club in Richmond Barracks.
For one morning a week over 5 weeks they worked with our eco-gardener in residence Polly Rowley-Sams and with artist and film-maker Helen Flanagan to explore the nature and biodiversity of the local area and identify issues in relation to this that were important to them. The outcome was this film.
In 2022 the CultureConnects @ Richmond Barracks programme ran three biodiversity camps for young people aged between 8 and 12 years old called Green Club. These camps were funded by Léargas through the European Year of Youth 2022 initiative. Part of the project included supporting the young people to create a film related to what they were exploring and learning about.
The film was screened on the 22nd of June in Richmond Barracks at the launch of the Inchicore Childrens Broadcasting (ICB) project. ICB is a collaborative project between Our Lady of Loures NS and Inchicore NS in Dublin 8.
Pupils from third to sixth class in both schools have set up their own child led broadcasting station and they are making tv and radio programmes to help them get to know each other and their community better, to learn about media, and to make programmes about issues that are important to them. The ICB project is supported by the Arts Council and facilitated by Helen Flanagan.
