Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia is an international Irish language festival that takes place annually in Ireland and among Irish communities worldwide. The festival spans over two weeks, from March 1 to March 17.
Seachtain na Gaeilge at Richmond Barracks is an invitation to connect with Irish culture in a fun and interactive way.
Whether you're fluent in Irish or just curious to learn a few phrases, there's something for everyone!
Céilí Mór Dún Richmond - Irish Dance Evening
Wednesday 5th March, 7 pm; duration 90 minutes
Bígí linn le haghaidh oíche ceoil, rince agus spraoi. Join us for a night of music, dance and fun led by céilí caller and sean nós dancer Louise O’Connor.
Louise will be calling out the dance steps, so this céilí is ideal for novices and less experienced dancers. Be prepared to make use of your cúpla focail and have a lot of fun!
Comfortable shoes essential. This is an alcohol-free event for adults/ over 18s.
Saturday 8th March, 3pm; duration 1 hour
Bígí linn le haghaidh cóisir dioscó don teaghlach ar fad! Join céilí instructor and musician Louise O’Connor for a family friendly céilí disco! Have fun dancing simple céilí dances, followed by some disco dances, to get all ages stamping, shuffling and practicing their haon, dó, trís.
Suitable for children aged 5+. Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer but everyone is encouraged to join in!
Tuesday 11 March, 6 pm; duration 90 minutes
Bígí linn le oíche spóirt agus craic ag imirt cluichí boird as Gaeilge. Cuirfear fáilte roimh chuile dhuine - is cuma cén leibhéal Gaeilge. Beidh fáilte roimh chuile aois ghrúpa ar an oíche chomh maith.
Join us for a fun night of playing board games in Irish. All levels of Irish are welcome, from beginners to fluent. This event is family friendly and all ages and abilities are welcome.
These tours as gaeilge are an excellent opportunity to explore the rich history of the area while practising your Irish.

Turas Siúil ó Dún Richmond go Chill Mhaighneann
Follow in the footsteps of the 1916 leaders on a tour that traces their final moments up to Kilmainham Gaol.
Saturday 1 March 11 am; duration 90 minutes.
Turas Siúil ó Dún Richmond go Reilig an Droichid Órga
Discover the historic Goldenbridge Cemetery, Ireland's first garden cemetery.
Saturday 1 March 1 pm; duration 90 minutes.
Thursday 13 March, 11 am; duration 1 hour
We will be celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge at our weekly Sing for Fun singing workshop on Thursday March 13th. Join in and try out singing some songs in Irish. Afterwards, stay on for a cup of tea and take part in Tráth na gCeist Amhránaíocht Spraoiúil / Sing for Fun Table Quiz, which is suitable for all levels of Irish, including none at all!
