Richmond Barracks, in Inchicore, will open its doors for its first ever Christmas Craft Fair this December. Featuring a range of locally produced goods and crafts, the fair will showcase the work of local craftspeople and artists. Shoppers will be able to pick up unique and handmade Christmas gifts including jewellery and accessories, candles, soap, skin care products, Christmas decorations and wreaths, homewares, pottery, paintings and much more.
The Christmas Craft Fair will run from 11am to 5.30pm on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December, and will also feature festive music, plus hot drinks and treats from local sellers.
On Saturday there will also be a chance to try out some festive crafting with two free drop-in workshops for children and families. Richmond Barracks’ eco-gardener and artist in residence Polly Rowley-Sams will be creating winter wonderlands at a shadow puppet making workshop, and artist Ciara Harrison will be teaching us how to make and decorate festive 3D stars. Workshops can be booked online and a number of drop in spaces will be available on the day.
We are thrilled to be able to welcome people to Richmond Barracks for this very special event. These two days are a great opportunity for you to shop local this Christmas, and for us to showcase the skills, talent and creativity that exist in the surrounding area. We look forward to welcoming you to Richmond Barracks to enjoy the Christmas Craft Fair, as well as the library, the music and the garden of the Barracks
Gemma Sexton, Head of Visitor Experience at Richmond Barracks.
“This is such a great way to promote the spectacular level of creativity and craftsmanship in the local area, to shop local and support local artists and craft makers in the run up to Christmas,” said Michelle Licciardi of Dublin South City Partnership. “What better way to spend a few hours on a weekend over the 11 and 12 December than in the festive atmosphere of a beautiful historic building whilst shopping local and supporting craftspeople from our own community.”
